Tomorrow we are going on holiday. Most parents think about packing and getting things they need, weeks in advance.
Me? Well the suitcases are still in the garage and I haven’t even thought about it yet.
Am I really going on holiday tomorrow? Apparently so.
It’s not that I’m not excited about it. It’s just things have been crazy busy at work and it’s been leading up to today – my last day at work before I go.
When I get home at 5pm I will pour a glass of wine and start packing.
It won’t take long. That’s why I’m not too stressed about it. I don’t understand those people that need to pack weeks in advance. Aren’t the clothes all creased by the time you unpack on holiday? I don’t get it.
So I’ve been up since 5am this morning. I’ve cleaned the house, and I’m nearly ready for a huge and exciting day at work.
Daddy and monkey have a few chores to do while I’m away; swimming lessons, pick up last minute bits and pieces, drop the cat to the cattery and hoover the house.
Monkey is so excited. When he wakes up this morning he will say ‘one sleep to holiday mummy.’ It will be the best feeling in the world.
7 days together to have fun and enjoy some warm weather. To not think about work too much just for one week.
One thing I won’t miss is always having to think one step ahead. As we live our lives on fast forward, it will be nice just to sit and not have to think about putting a wash on, who’s picking monkey up, when my next gym session is, what’s for dinner…
I’m determined to slow down for a week and spend some quality time as a family.
So tonight il pack, enjoy a glass of wine with dinner and try and switch to holiday mode. I’m sure it will take a while to get monkey to sleep too as he will be so excited.
Then it’s off to the airport in the morning and to the Duty Free. Toblerone anyone?
See you in a week guys.
