Potty Training – The Final Day

So today marked day 3 of potty training – The last day at home with monkey before work and nursery starts again tomorrow.

It was also solo parenting day as Daddy went off to play cricket.

We didn’t leave the house all day as I didn’t feel confident enough to deal with potential wee and poo situations on my own.

So we did drawings, played with trains and cars, put stickers everywhere and lots of playing on the bouncy castle outside.

It was also the breakthrough day! Monkey took himself off to the toilet on his own every time he needed a wee. He also took a book with him when he needed a poo. I got told to get out when I went in to check he was okay, so this little man knows what he wants.

Overall it’s been a great but tiring day. We have had no accidents and I could not be prouder.

I know tomorrow will be a new test as there will be lots of distractions at nursery. I’m expecting lots of accidents and have packed 3 pairs of trousers and 4 pairs of pants in his bag.

But I am happy that we have done the hard work this weekend. The basics are there and he now wants to go to the toilet on his own.

So tonight I’m not celebrating with wine. I’m having a very large cuppa and another early night.

I imagine il have a lot of washing to do over the next few days while the next potty training phase gets going at nursery. But that’s okay, because he is doing better than I could have ever imagined.

I hope you have all had a fab bank holiday weekend!

Weirdly, even though we didn’t do much, I have had a lovely couple of days at home.
