Don’t break the Bank Holiday

I have been asked to take part in this year’s campaign which is called ‘Don’t break the bank holiday’ with Provident.

Now it’s coming up to another Bank Holiday weekend next week, sometimes it is difficult to find cheap thing to do and to entertain children.

Monkey needs constant amusement and wants to be on the go all the time. As he goes to nursery full time there is plenty of opportunity for arts and crafts, playing with friends and toys and spending time outside in the courtyard or on the farm.
So having weekends off and with an additional day off with Bank Holiday we do sometimes struggle keeping him entertained.

So here are my top activities which won’t break the bank this May Bank Holiday:

  1. Kids Cinema club – most cinemas do a kids club that show older Pixar or Disney films for just £3 a person at 10.00am. We have done this a few times and it is ideal if it’s raining or cold outside.
  2. Soft Play – yes I know….but it’s cheap and cheerful and tires the kids out. My tip is to go as soon as it opens when it’s quieter and calmer. I wouldn’t go any other time to be honest!
  3. If the weather is nice, we head down to one of our local country parks. We take some snacks or stop at the coffee shop half way round. It’s usually only £3 to park the car so it’s great to get out for some fresh air with the family.
  4. My last resort is baking. I do enjoy baking but monkey does tend to get more flour over the floor and walls than in the bowl so it can get slightly stressful. We tend to stick to chocolate crispy cakes or some easy fairy cakes that require minimal ingredients but that monkey can enjoy decorating when they are made.

So whatever you have planned next weekend, make sure you enjoy the extra day off with the family.

Every additional day off with my little monkey is a bonus. As both hubby and I both work full time we will definitely be trying to keep busy and have lots of fun.

  1. Kids club at the cinema is a great idea. My partner is actually taking my daughter off to see her grandparents up North over bank hols and I am staying here which probably means it will be me breaking the bank…not them lol! Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub lovely x
