Bank holiday fun & family time

So this weekend I went home to Taunton to spend some time with my family. I actually haven’t been down there with little man for a weekend since he was about 4 months old.

I was really excited to have some time away from the usual routines of normal life, and to spend some time as a family in my home town.

Now little man is 2, I do feel a bit happier about being more flexible with his routines and going with the flow..

Sunday we left bright and early at 4.30am to get down there for breakfast time, and to avoid as many tantrums as possible. As little man was still half asleep for the majority of the journey, he dozed for a few hours on and off, and then woke up properly 10 minutes before we arrived.

We went for coffee in the morning and then Mum and I went to Exeter shopping before meeting all the boys in Exmouth.

Exmouth used to be my favourite family day when I lived at home. We used to go on the beach, have chips, ice-cream and play crazy golf on a Saturday or Sunday.

We then got home and had a roast dinner, which is always better when your parents make it.

Mum and I decided to go for drinks after, which was lovely. It was weird seeing some of the same bars, with a few new ones that have appeared. It made me feel old remembering when I used to go out every Saturday night with my friends.

Monday, Mum and I decided to go for a run in the morning, which went okay considering my tummy was lined with a mix of gin, vodka, cointreau and prosecco.

We pottered around at home for the morning but went off to Vivary park for the afternoon, fed the ducks and had an ice cream.

I also got to catch up with my friend from school during little mans lunchtime nap. We met at Starbucks, which was our usual coffee shop of choice 10 + years ago. It was fab to have a HUGE catch up as I hadn’t seen her for over a year.

We had such a lovely weekend! It was fab going home and spending some time chilling out and not really worrying about anything.

Now it is September, we have so many busy weekends coming up, and summer feels like a distant memory!

What have you got planned for Autumn?

  1. Aww sounds like a lovely weekend! I love it when you can go and do things/see places you went to before children came along! I like taking Mia to places and telling her all about when I used to come with daddy or with ‘grandma’ 🙂
