Presents, fairy cakes & a visit to the Wildlife Park

Last weekend’s celebrations feel like a life time ago looking back at all the pictures and thinking of how busy we have been.

Last Saturday little man and I decided to bake some fairy cakes for his birthday, instead of buying a cake.

He loves helping in the kitchen. As long as you give him a job to do, he feels like a big boy and won’t throw too much around or cause too much additional mess.

So Sunday I was definitely more excited than little man. We opened all his presents and then decided to go to Newfield Ice Cream Parlour for the morning. It had an amazing outdoor area for the little ones and a huge variety of ice cream.

We took it in turns to supervise little man playing whilst eating ice cream and then headed off home for nap time.

We didn’t do too much in the afternoon as he was so excited to play with all his presents so we just pottered around at home.

Monday was Yorkshire Wildlife Park day! It was overcast but weirdly warm.

Taking a 2 year old anywhere is obviously quite stressful. A lot more stressful than when he was 1.

But he was actually a relatively good toddler for the day despite only having half an hour sleep in the car on the way there.

He loved seeing the animals and was telling the lions off and that they cannot eat people – yes maybe he has been watching too much Jurassic World!

The gift shop was of course strategically placed so you have to walk through to get out. We ended up with a tiger, and a tractor.

I never knew having fun could be so exhausting.

Hubby and I were definitely more tired than little man when we got home and were ready for bed ourselves.

So now the birthday celebrations are all over..it is on to the next thing! I am going home for Bank Holiday weekend.

What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. Ah what a lovely day had by all, and those cakes look yummy! You’ve put the fear into my about stressful days out with a 2 year old. I love a wildlife park and I’m sure my daughter will too. Thanks for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x
