It suddenly dawned on me this week that next month I will be in possession of a 2 year old. My little boy turns 2 in August, and I cannot quite believe where the time has gone.
As I sat and wrote this for meetothermums.com, I was already up against my deadline. I had to bake a cake for work in the morning. I had already put a wash on, made dinner and showered and washed my hair. When did I become Mary Poppins?
Ok….if I am honest, I will never be Mary Poppins.
My days consist of getting us all out the house by 7.15am, rushing little man to nursery, and then hot footing it to work (within the speed limit obviously…I do travel in rush hour after all).
I then spend 8 hours at work, before rushing out the door to enjoy those 2 lovely hours with little man before bed time – which are usually hit and miss depending on how tired both him and I are after our long days at work and nursery.
Evenings are spent doing loads of washing, making dinner, catching up on work or blogging. I go to a Pilate’s class one night a week too.
So with little man being 2 next month and him starting nursery at 6 months old, I have been doing this for 18 months. 18 whole months!
Where has the time gone?
I think I have everything down to a tee now – being able to get home, little man playing nicely in his play room whilst I wash the breakfast dishes and start prepping tea.
Then enjoying bath time and splashing around before snuggling on the sofa watching In the Night Garden, followed by story and bed.
Yes it is tedious and tiring, but it is completely necessary.
I would love to come home and spend all the time with little man. But if I didn’t start prepping tea and cleaning up, then I would never get to bed in the evening.
This is what works for us as a family, and it has worked for 18 months now.
So on 21st August 2016 I will officially be in possession of a 2 year old. No I haven’t had chance to think about birthday presents for him or order a birthday cake yet, but I will.
Because even though all our lives are busy, he is and always will be my top priority.
A hug and a kiss from him after a bad day make everything better, no matter how bad a day I have had.
Busy Working Mummy XOXO
