We had such a lovely weekend. I was supposed to write a post about it for Sunday but I was so tired that I thought there was no point writing it until I had got myself some sleep.
So it is back to work with a bump and a little bit of a grump this week too.
My Auntie & Uncle came to visit this weekend. Now we don’t often have visitors, let alone family with small children. I was really looking forward to it, and so that little man could have some play mates for the weekend.
Saturday afternoon we relaxed and played in the garden.
Anyone that knows me knows that I can be a bit dull and boring..but I started on the wine at 4.24pm, whilst still in control of a toddler. I lived dangerously!
The kiddies all went to bed on Saturday night and we all sat back with a chippy tea. My Uncle and hubby enjoyed some beers, and my Auntie and I continued on the wine. I admit I did stop after dinner as I didn’t want a fuzzy head on Sunday.
Being with family and spending time with them is so important. We all live in different parts of the country which is why staying for weekends is the only real way to do it.
Yes, I knew that the house would be chaotic for 24 hours. That I wouldn’t be able to control spillages, crumbs and the endless movement of toys and books round the house.
But one thing that makes it all worth while is fun and laughter. We definitely had a lot of laughs this weekend.
Now my Auntie’s girls are 6 and 2.5 years old and they shared a double bed on Saturday night. The experiment didn’t work.
Unfortunately the girls were up chatting the whole night once the youngest woke the eldest with her sleeping yoga poses in bed. My Auntie took the eldest downstairs to watch TV to split them up and so she could fall asleep on the sofa.
My Uncle stayed in bed with the toddler. He definitely didn’t get any sleep having to experience the same sleeping yoga poses as his eldest daughter!
Needless to say there were some incredibly tired people waking up in the Busy Working Mummy household on Sunday.
We all went off to Rufford Abbey Country Park for the morning to run around and have lunch. They then went off home so the girls could finally get some sleep in the car.
Little man loved having the girls around and we didn’t even have any spectacular toddler tantrums to report either. When he woke up from his nap, we chilled out together, and enjoyed the sunshine. We even had a mini milk in the garden which was the perfect end to a fab weekend.
We had such a lovely weekend regardless of the severe lack of sleep experienced. Seeing family just always puts a smile on my face.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend in the sunshine too.
