I have been tagged by the fantastic Natalie at Confessions of a Crummy Mummy to write a post about what home means to me.
What a question. It is a great opportunity for reflection and thoughts to truly discover what home actually does mean to me.
I have always been a very home-y person. You tend to get 2 different types of people – one that goes out a lot, is very social and doesn’t spend much time at home, and the second, me. I love being in my home more than anything and do not really go out often.
I rarely go out after dark and I spend my weekends pottering around the house and nearby parks and country houses with my boys.
I am currently trying to remember where I got this mentality from. I grew up in a lovely family home, always worked hard and enjoyed having my own space. It always had to be clean and tidy, so i think mum enjoyed having me around.
The first house i ever owned was my first house with my hubby. It was a lovely 3 bed 3 storey townhouse down in Somerset. We actually only lived in it for 6 months before we moved up to Nottingham so we never even had a Christmas in it.
We rented it out and then we rented up here for the first few years. We wanted to get to know the areas, and wait until we were settled and in a position to sell our house in Somerset.
We have now been living in our new house that we OWN for nearly 18 months. This is my safe place, the piece of the jigsaw puzzle that had been missing for so long.
Our house is now most definitely our home. It is where I will bring up my little family, enjoy lots of good times and ride out the bad times.
I want my home to be perfect for my family, which is why hubby and i both work so hard. We want to enjoy time together, and if that seems boring to most that we spend it together in our home then that is what we are.
So you could say home means everything to me.
Give me a takeaway and a glass of wine snuggled up on the sofa in my pyjamas over dressing up and going for dinner any day.
Now it is my turn to tag some fantastic bloggers. My nominations are:
Can’t wait to read what home means to you.
