Life

Now what?

I have had an exciting week this week as I sent off my final assignment to the British College of Journalism. I now appear to know how to be a freelance journalist. My diploma is in the post.

Now what?

Now I have to decide how to use this qualification and get my work published. When will I have the time? Do I actually have the time to even think about it?

Writing is something I have always wanted to do. This blog has been and will continue to be an amazing platform where I can write about my life and things that are important to my family.

The thing is, I am impatient. I want to be that established career women now, and forget all the in between’s and the journey to success. But here’s the thing, those in between’s are what moulds people into being successful and those journeys are the key.

I am counting on the journey to teach me what I need to and want to know to enable me to turn a passion into a career.

So my thinking is this: I will have a few weeks to now enjoy Christmas after finishing my course. From January I will set aside time of a weekend to pitch ideas and stories to magazines and newspapers.

I hope that passion and determination is enough to keep me going. I never thought I would have the guts to chase this dream but I am here, chasing…and waiting with baited breath for the next step. I am stumbling around a little….but my eyes are wide open.

I just hope that Busy Working Mummy doesn’t become Too Busy To Enjoy Life Working Mummy and that I settle on a balance that suits me and my family.

So for now, I am enjoying working and having a nice balance of work and life. I know I have a lot of hard work to put in to get to where I truly want to get to. With the support of my husband, I hope I can get there.

I won’t give up. I might stop and reevaluate a few things along the way, but I will keep on going.

Have you ever chased your dreams? How have you kept yourself motivated through the ups and the downs?

  1. Congratulations! What an amazing accomplishment! (That I’m also sort of, possibly jealous of.) Stay strong and keep going. Every little accomplishment is important the road to being the successful woman that you want to be. I have similar encouragement for my husband as he works towards becoming a pharmacist. The wait can be frustrating, but it is rewarding in the end.

  2. Well done! I think taking the time to try and work out how to balance everything is a good idea. Taking a step back always helps me to decide what it is I really want to do. 🙂

  3. Sounds like you know exactly what you are doing. That is so good. Just keep focus. I know I didn’t and ended up having kids instead. Haha Joke aside – I would never change it though. Well done for getting that last paper in, just take a few weeks to relax and enjoy Christmas a bit while you still can. xx #SundayStars

  4. Congratulations! I know what you mean, when something brilliant like that happens you want to take it all on straight away. But letting it simmer over Christmas and starting the new journey in the new year will give you fresh ideas and you’ll feel ready. Please update on how it all goes x
