The world is a scary place…..we can’t keep thinking ‘What if’ forever.
Now I am no political writer, neither have I ever taken much notice and interest in politics in general. Mostly due to the fact that I don’t really understand or agree with how people can over complicate matters so much.
I cannot ignore what happened in Paris this weekend, and I feel compelled to write about it through the eyes of someone that doesn’t completely understand. I have spent hours trawling through the internet piecing everything together, considering what has happened, why and how.
How can enjoying dinner on a Friday night with family, having a cup of coffee with friends or heading off to a concert end in so much violence? This is what we all stand for – freedom and fun, joy and laughter. When there are people in this world wanting to take it all away from us, what can be done?
One thing that really got me this morning was the scare mongering that has now started on social media about being the start of World War 3 after the bombings last night. I don’t want to bring my child up in a world where social media defeats who we are – it is bad enough as it is.
I wrote a post only yesterday about how negative I usually am, but there is a difference between personal events and large life changing events.
Why are we giving them the satisfaction of seeing us all scared and vulnerable?
Of course, it is a scary world, and it is about to get scarier but unfortunately the world has done this to itself. Politics has done this.
I don’t want to bring my child up in world of War but I believe that this is now inevitable. So as we wait with bated breath to understand the UK’s approach to the bombings and the involvement that our Country will take, let’s remember that we are all a lot better equipped than what we were in World War 1 and 2.
Let’s not let these people beat us and start scaring our whole society.
If you do one thing today, hold your little ones close and remember that this world is a scary one, but it has been for some time….so let’s keep positive for the world, and for our Country.
